A recent newspaper report stated
“Fuerteventura’s tourist sector is celebrating the news that the number of holiday makers in July was a massive 40% up on the same month a year ago. The island’s tourism councillor Águeda Montelongo says July was the “second best month for Fuerteventura since 2003” and the signs are that the recovery will continue further in the coming months thanks to the rise in winter flights.“
Why Fuerteventura?
- Fuerteventura is the jewel in the crown of the Canary Islands.
- As the last of the Canary Islands to be developed, Fuerteventura is benefiting from the lessons learnt by its predecessors, this gave rise to:
- In 2002, the Canarian Parliament passed General Planning & Tourism directives aimed at limiting the number of tourism beds, which will increase the value of your investment.
- A Conservation Legislation which protects 49% of its territory, thus restricting construction to limited areas on the island.
- Fuerteventura is still a relatively unknown island, but the growing number of visitors is rapidly having a beneficial effect on property prices.
- Fuerteventura will always be a holiday destination thanks to its year round warm climate, similar to Mexico and Florida, with favourable temperatures rarely below 19ºC. The island has an average of 2,938 hours of sunshine a year and it is only a 4 hour flight from major European airports.
